Complaints and Appeals Policy

Revista CoPaLa. Construyendo Paz Latinoamericana will address complaints and appeals related to the editorial process, peer review results, alleged malpractice, conflicts of interest, plagiarism, published errors, editorial treatment, the conduct of reviewers or members of the editorial team, as well as any possible breach of the journal’s publication guidelines and editorial policies.

Cases in Which Complaints or Appeals May Be Submitted

Complaints and appeals may refer, among others, to the following cases:

• Non-publication of manuscripts.
• Results of the peer review process.
• Alleged irregularities in the editorial process.
• Cases of plagiarism, self-plagiarism or duplicate publication.
• Undeclared conflicts of interest.
• Published errors.
• Conduct of authors, reviewers, editors or members of editorial bodies.
• Failure to comply with the journal’s editorial policies.

Submission of Complaints and Appeals

Complaints and appeals must be submitted in writing to the journal’s official email address: [email protected].

The request must include the full name of the applicant, contact information, a clear description of the case, arguments, available evidence, place and date.

Anonymous Requests and Confidentiality

Anonymous requests will not be accepted, except when the case requires identity protection for justified and verifiable reasons.

In such cases, the journal will protect the confidentiality of the applicant, provided that this does not prevent a responsible analysis of the case.

Review of the Request

The Editorial Committee will review the request, verify its admissibility and may request additional information, consult external reviewers or refer the matter to the corresponding editorial body, according to the nature of the case.

Journal Response

The journal will issue a reasoned response, based on the available evidence, publication guidelines, editorial policies and the principles of academic integrity, impartiality and confidentiality.

Appeals against Review Reports

Appeals against review reports do not imply a commitment to publication. They must refer to procedural errors, conflict of interest, lack of impartiality, verifiable omissions or irregularities in the editorial process.

Appeals based solely on disagreement with the academic assessment of reviewers will not be accepted.

Editorial Measures

When a complaint or appeal leads to the identification of an irregularity, Revista CoPaLa may determine editorial measures such as review of the process, request for clarifications, assignment of a new review, correction, retraction or rejection of the manuscript, according to the nature and seriousness of the case.
