Conflict of Interest Policy

A conflict of interest exists when personal, academic, institutional, labor-related, financial, professional, political or any other factors may influence, or be perceived as influencing, the objectivity of the manuscript, the evaluation process, the editorial decision or the interpretation of the published results.

Revista CoPaLa. Construyendo Paz Latinoamericana considers the declaration of conflicts of interest to be a necessary practice to protect the transparency, impartiality and integrity of the editorial process. This obligation applies to authors, reviewers, editors and members of the editorial bodies.

Authors

Authors must declare any relationship, funding, institutional link, participation in projects, previous collaboration or circumstance that may affect, or be perceived as affecting, the impartiality of the submitted work. When there is no conflict of interest, this must be expressly declared.

Reviewers

Reviewers must excuse themselves from evaluating manuscripts when they identify a conflict of interest involving the topic, institutions, projects, authors or possible beneficiaries of the publication.

They must also refrain from using information from the evaluated manuscript for personal, academic, institutional or professional benefit before its publication.

Editors and Members of Editorial Bodies

Editors and members of the editorial bodies must refrain from intervening in editorial decisions when there is a direct relationship with the manuscript, its authors, institutions, projects or results.

In these cases, the manuscript must be assigned to another editor or member of the editorial team who does not have a conflict of interest.

Editorial Measures

The existence of a conflict of interest does not necessarily imply rejection of the manuscript. However, failure to disclose it may result in editorial review, rejection, annulment of a review report, correction, retraction or further editorial measures, depending on the seriousness of the case.

Conflict of Interest Statement

A conflict of interest statement must be included when submitting the manuscript. When there is no conflict, the following wording may be used:
