Author Guidelines

CoPaLa is a biannual electronic publication whose main objective is to disseminate scientific articles, research advances, essays, case studies, theoretical analysis and critical or informative bibliographic reviews from Latin America, the Caribbean or any other country, continent or region, addressed from different theoretical, epistemological and methodological perspectives related to the themes of democracy, peace, conflicts, violence, interculturality, human rights, non-violence, education for peaceful coexistence, management methods, resolution and conflict transformation, as well as everything related to critical pedagogies and participant action research experiences for peacebuilding in different social, family, educational, regional, national or world contexts.

Its content is aimed at teachers, researchers, students and peacebuilding activists in Latin America and the Caribbean focused on contributing from thought, verbal and written ideas, daily praxis, articles, books, chapters, messages, reviews, notes, artistic manifestations, and everything that creativity can potentiate from culture and education for peaceful coexistence with social justice, true democracy, freedom and dignity of human life.

The periodicity of the CoPaLa magazine is biannual.

Collaborations must meet the following requirements:

 

Documentary typologies published by the CoPaLa Magazine

Would be:

  • Scientific articles
  • Research advances
  • Essays
  • Current case studies or with a historical perspective
  • Theoretical analysis
  • Critical or informative bibliographic reviews
  • States of the art
  • States of the question

 

Format

  • The contributions must be unpublished, original and not to be submitted simultaneously.
  • Delivered in a Word processor, without any type of formatting, indents, bullets or tabs.
  • The tables, charts, graphs, images or photographs that are part of the text must be placed in the corresponding places within the writing and not separately. They must be legible and contain a name and short source at the bottom of the image and extensive in the bibliographic references section.
  • Footnotes will be used for brief comments and clarifications (9-point Times New Roman font and 1.0 line spacing). Bibliographic references are not accepted as footnotes.
  • After the title of the article and the full name of its author (s), a summary of an analytical type must be included that must include (objective, methodology, results and conclusions of the article). This summary must be delivered in Spanish and English, no more than 150 words, one line followed.
  • After the abstract in English, the key words should appear (three to five words in Spanish, without concept and separated by a comma. The first letter of each keyword should be capitalized).
  • After the Abstract, the Keywords must appear (key words in Spanish, and in accordance with the previous point).

 

Structure of the writing

Title

- It is written in English and Spanish with an average of 16 words, precise, clear and express the content of the    writing.

- Do not use trade names or abbreviations.

- It must be written in uppercase and lowercase, size 14, Times New Roman font.

 

Authors and affiliation

- Name and surnames (Link the orcid account with an icon before you must register at https://orcid.org)

- Institution to which they belong.

- Institution that financed or supported the research (if so).

 

Summary and Abstract

- It is written in English and Spanish, a reduced version of the article, it is punctually written in the past tense and a single paragraph in a maximum of 200 words.

- Structure: objectives, method, results and conclusions.

- Do not write in acronyms or abbreviations, do not cite references or present any information or conclusion that does not appear in the article.

 

Keywords (Palabras clave)

- In English abd Spanish, maximum of five descriptors or keywords.

- In alphabetical order.

 

Introduction

- Introduce the investigation describing the problem; explain the importance of the topic and the objectives of your work.

 

Sections of the body of the writing

- Those considered by the author to comply with his problem raised.

 

Conclusions or closing comments

- Respond to the objectives, hypotheses (if applicable), and problems presented in order of importance.

 

Bibliographic references

- Adopts and adheres to the publication standards established by the American Psychological Association (APA), latest edition.

- It is suggested, but not required, it is the use of Bibliographic Reference Manager programs, for example, Mendeley, RefWorks, Zotero, EndNote basic, etc.

 

Authorship

  • The Revista CoPaLa receives articles with a maximum of three authors.
  • We understand as authors the people who have participated in the intellectual contribution of the research, in the development of the work and in the writing.
  • Collaborate, help or participate in the collection of quantitative or qualitative data; Participating in the application of research techniques and tools, as well as the revision or correction of style, are not enough tasks to be part of the authorship of a scientific article or essay.
  • The Revista CoPaLa disclaims any responsibility for possible conflicts of interest derived from the authorship of the published works.
  • After the title, include the name and surnames of the author (s), as well as the position they hold, the institution to which they are attached and their email address.
  • Attach a curriculum summary for each author, no more than six lines.


Extension

  • The length of the writing should be 12 to 20 letter-size sheets (7000 words), including tables, graphs, notes and bibliography. They must be presented on a 28-line sheet (64 strokes per line, 12-point Times New Roman font and 1.5 spacing).
  • The reviews should be three to six pages long, and should include:
  • Title of the book reviewed, Author (s), publisher, city of publication, year of publication, ISBN and total pages.
  • The cover of the book that is reviewed must be in jpg format (300 dpi).

 

Bibliographic references

  • The formal aspect of use of citations (verbatim, paraphrasing or comment), notes and references, as well as the bibliographic record, must correspond to the APA format, 6th Edition.

  • The bibliographic record must contain exclusively the sources cited within the text.
  • The bibliographic record must appear at the end of the writing, with the corresponding subtitle.
  • Bibliography is not accepted as a footnote.

 

Evaluation

  • Whoever submits a manuscript agrees not to submit it simultaneously for consideration by other publications.
  • All contributions will be judged by the members of the CoPaLa Review Committee, through the “blind peers” system, who will receive the document without the author's name and will issue a written opinion under the following criteria: approved for publication; approved with conditions; not approved. The result will be notified to the author. The decision of the Evaluation Committee is final.
  • LAcceptance of each collaboration will depend on the evaluation of two expert reviewers in the field who will be kept anonymous, as well as the author (authors) for the purposes of the same.
  • In case of controversy in the final decision of the opinion, the writing will be submitted to an evaluation.
  • Any collaboration that has been accepted for publication will be subject to a style review.
  • The time between receipt of the papers and the publication of the articles is approximately six months.

 

Languages

  • Submissions for articles in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English are accepted.

 

Composition

  • Each issue of the Revista CoPaLa will be integrated with the works that at the time of publication closing have the approval of the Evaluation Committee.
  • The editorial staff reserves the right to make the style correction and editorial changes that it deems necessary to qualify the work.

 

Checklist for preparing shipments

As part of the submission process, authors should check that their submission meets all of the elements listed below. Submissions that do not meet these guidelines will be returned to the authors:

  • The petition has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted to another journal simultaneously.
  • The written collaboration is in Microsoft Word format.
  • Web addresses have been added for references where possible and these addresses are current. (There are no broken links).
  • The text has 1.5 line spacing, the font size is 12 points, the font format is Times New Roman. Italics are used instead of underlining (except for URL addresses). In the text, the tables, charts, graphs, images or photographs that are part of the text must be placed in the corresponding places within the writing and not separately. They must be legible and contain a name and short source at the bottom of the image and extensive in the bibliographic references section.
  • The text complies with the bibliographic and style requirements indicated in the Normas de publicación para autores that can be found in the Journal section.
  • The author(s) agree with the intellectual property notice requested by the journal that is presented in the Copyright Notice section.
  • The author(s) agree with the Journal's Open Access Policy.

 

Copyright notice

La revista CoPaLa. Construcción de Paz Latinoamericana informs its authors and readers that the entire publication must be delivered with the Letter of Acceptance of Copyright Conditions, where the authors are requested authorization to submit the article for consideration by the CoPaLa journal so that it can carry out any of the following activities:

  • The graphic and style edition of the work or part of it.
  • The publication and full reproduction of the work or part of it, both by printed and electronic means, including the internet and any other known or unknown technology.
  • The translation into any language or dialect of the work or part of it.
  • The adaptation of the work or formats of reading, sound, voice and any other representation or technical mechanism available, which makes it possible to access it for partially or totally blind people, or with some other form of special abilities that prevents the conventional reading of the article.
  • The distribution and making available of the work to the public, in such a way that the magazine can be accessed from the time and place that each person chooses, through the electronic mechanisms available.
  • Any other form of use, process or system known or to be known that is related to the activities and editorial purposes to which theRevista CoPaLa is linked.
  • The format of the Letter is Word with filling fields for the incorporation of the basic data of the manuscript and the authors.
  • The journal makes the letter available for individual works and collective works (up to three authors).
  • In the same letter, the authors must accept that with their collaboration, the submitted article will be adjusted by the CoPaLa journal's editing team, in accordance with the "Rules for authors", (previously established and published on the official website of the Journal).

 

The authors who publish in the CoPaLa Magazine. Latin American Peacebuilding accept the following conditions:

  • The authors retain their moral rights over the publication and assign the assets mentioned in the Letter of Assignment of Rights with the Creative Commons Attribution - Non-Commercial - Share A Like4.0 International license, which allows third parties to use what is published as long as they mention authorship of work and the first publication in this magazine.
  • Authors may enter into other independent and additional contractual agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the article published in this journal, provided that they clearly indicate that the work was published for the first time in the Revista CoPaLa. Construcción de Paz Latinoamericana.

 

Ethics

CoPaLa journal adheres to the standards and codes established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (Code of Conduct and Best Practices Guidelines for Journals Editors, COPE), by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICJME).

 

Policies regarding the exploitation rights of the journal

The exploitation rights of the CoPaLa magazine are entitled to publish them in physical and / or electronic formats, including the internet.

 

About plagiarism

Plagiarism is the action of copying a paragraph or more in its entirety or in parts of other people's works, without registering the corresponding authorship reference in the verbatim, commentary or summary citations. Plagiarism is also incurred when taking ideas from other people's texts or from conferences, lectures, workshops or courses that other people have exposed in events of an academic, cultural or political nature.  

Plagiarism constitutes a crime, and whoever engages in such practice will be responsible for the legal charges that the affected party or parties decide to process.


Plagiarism detected before the article is published, the CoPaLa magazine will proceed not to publish it. If plagiarism is discovered after publication (even if the author or authors have received a letter of acceptance of publication), the article will be withdrawn and the name of the author or authors, the title of the article and the note: article or essay withdrawn due to plagiarism.

Revista CoPaLa uses anti-plagiarism software to verify the degree of originality of the full text of the article or essay submitted for possible publication.

To detect plagiarism, tools such as Turnitin®, from iParadigms, Duplichecker®, LLC, and search engines such as Google® are used. If self-plagiarism is evidenced, the author will be notified in order to solve the situation; if the author does not respond to the notification, the article will be rejected for publication.

The journal will proceed to sanction the author or authors of publishing in CoPaLa with a temporary or permanent veto.

In addition, the content of this site is protected under the Attribution- Non-commercial- Share alike license (by-nc-sa) with which the commercial use of the original work or derivative works and the distribution of which must be done with the same license that governs the original work. The graphic design, the images and the texts generated by the Revista CoPaLa s are property of the same and are licensed with, Revista Construyendo Paz Latinoamericana by Revista CoPaLa is licensed under a Creative Commons Reconocimiento 4.0 Internacional License.
