Ecological Economics: A Methodology for Sustainability

Abstract

With the dawn of the new millennium, new questions arise regarding how science visualizes climate impacts and their immediate repercussions. Particularly within the discourse of economics, there is a historical tradition of anthropocentricity, where orthodox approaches do not allow for intrinsic analysis of the value of factors external to human beings. Through a study of the trends that triggered orthodox and heterodox economic thinking, author Alfonso Corona presents the economic theories, concepts, and methodologies essential to understanding the prevailing contemporary model, explaining its turning points and the omissions that economic perspectives lack. Such speculation makes it possible to understand the economic processes that have led to relevant events that have impacted and continue to affect the global economic system.
