The situation of research in relation to sustainability criteria at the Universidad Tecnológica de Nezahualcóyotl.

Abstract

The project "Research and Collaboration Laboratory for Sustainability: Sustenta LAB UTN", integrated to program Cátedras COMECyT (del Consejo Mexiquense de Ciencia y Tecnologia), was approved in May 2021 to be implemented at the Universidad Tecnológica de Nezahualcóyotl (UTN), with the aim of promoting the exercise of collaborative research to foster the generation and application of technological knowledge with a sustainability perspective. This paper presents a diagnosis of the needs and interests of those who carry out research activities at the UTN through the analysis of their projects and perceptions in the light of categories related to sustainability perspectives. Based on methodological principles such as participatory action research, we used documentary research techniques, semi-structured interviews and meetings with UTN researchers, which resulted in the discovery of aspects related to the situation of research in the institution, researchers' perspectives on sustainability oriented mainly towards the environmental aspect; the detection of research interests and needs regarding the strengthening of methodological training and the induction of new approaches to sustainability in research.
