Abstract
At present, solid waste is one of the problems that afflict both the countryside and the city, since they are the cause of various inconveniences that affect the environment, for this reason, the search for alternatives for the reuse and recycling of those materials, are pressing. In this context, the academic bodies "Agricultural education and rural development" and "Conservation agriculture against land desertification"; We developed the Sustainable Green Rooms project, with the objective of building a 30 m2 classroom within the facilities of the “Rincon del Buitre” Ranch in the municipality of San Pedro, in Coahuila, Mexico. "The green room" is a construction alternative that uses materials from the region, complemented with solid waste, achieving to be friendly rooms with the environment and low cost. The results of this project were the construction of a 30 m2 classroom, at a cost of $ 50,000.00, which compared to traditional construction is 86% cheaper. The social repercussion has caused a great impact in the region. A collaboration agreement was reached for a period of five years and the project to build a solar garden will continue.
