To linearity at need for a complex approach to doctoral programs in Mexico
Main Article Content
Abstract
In general terms, it is assumed that doctoral programs not only strengthen scientific and technological development, but also create mechanisms, innovate instruments, and rethink programs to improve social and economic conditions in territorial environments.
To this end, universities play a fundamental role, not only in the implementation of these programs, also in the adoption of a complex and critical vision, aimed at generating and proposing strategic sustainability actions that guarantee the permanence and quality of life of humanity.
The objective of this document is highlighting the challenges so that doctoral programs related to sustainability, adopt a critical and complex position. For this, it starts from the review and analysis of the objectives of some doctoral programs, contrasting it with the contemporary need and relevance. In Mexico, a little more than half of the doctoral programs related to sustainability present a linear approach, emphasizing the environmental issue, as semantic similarity. The sustainable paradigm becomes residual, with a marginal treatment, which limits the complex and critical vision.
